ANGOLAN PRESIDENT VISITED OUR COMPANY IN LUANDA THE NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PROJECT

On the morning of April 9, local time, Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço inspected the New International Airport of Angola,Luanda, contracted by AVIC-KDN Airport Engineering Co., LTD. Angola's transport minister;minister of state for economic coordination;minister of public works and land planning;minister of energy and water resources;minister of land administration and state reform;minister of culture, tourism and environment;minister of justice and human rights; the attorney general; governor of Luanda; secretary of state for budget, ministry of finance;secretary of state for civil aviation maritime ports; secretary of state for land transport and so on, a number of provincial officials accompanying.Wei Qiying, executive deputy commander of Luanda New International Airport Project(hereinafter referred to as the New Airport, and related leaders accompanied them.

The project is positioned as an international hub airport in southwest Africa. It is an important project of the Belt and Road Initiative of the Chinese government and a national strategic project of Angola. The new airport will design two flight areas, 4F and 4E (which can meet the take-off and landing requirements of large civil airliners such as B747 and A380), and build relevant supporting facilities. The airport will have a building area of 450,000 square meters for each single project.

At the beginning of the inspection, President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço convened a closed-door meeting of government officials at the Project Commanding Office of Luanda New International Airport.Then he watched a promotional video for Luanda New International Airport and was briefed on the progress of the project by Ricardo Viegas D' Abreu, Minister of Transport, and José Paulo Nóbreg, coordinator of the GONAIL.

Next, The President visited the key projects such as the terminal, flight area and central station platform. He fully affirmed the construction and overall management of the new airport project of our company, expressed his satisfaction with the construction progress and quality of the project, and put forward new requirements for the next step of the construction of the New Airport Project.


Ricardo Viegas D 'Abreu, Angola's minister of transport, told the media: With the support of the Angolan government, the construction of the New Airport project has been steadily moving forward, achieving synchronization of epidemic prevention and control with production and operation to the greatest extent. The new airport will be completed in March 2023 as planned. By the end of June 2022, the first aircraft of the new airport will take off and land temporarily, and the new airport will start the certification process. When asked about the coexistence of the old and new airports, the Minister of Transport said that in view of the follow-up development of civil aviation in Angola, the implementation of dual airport operation is not ruled out, and the new airport will mainly receive commercial flights.


This is the second visit by Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço after his first visit on October 28, 2017, which fully demonstrates the Government of Angola’s great importance to the construction of the New Airport Project and their expectations for the early completion and operation of the new airport project.
